The Process...
When empty drums arrive at Rineco, they are recorded, placed on a tracking system and are processed within 48 hours. Metal drums are processed as they pass through the Container Decontamination Unit (CDU), an oven fueled by natural gas with temperatures above 1500^o F. The high temperatures destroy the chemical residues leaving ash. This ash is tested and blended on site into an alternative fuel source for cement kilns. Decontaminated drums are then crushed and sent to steel mills for recycling. Plastic and fiber drums are shredded and directly processed into waste derived fuel. Rineco’s complete approach to drum recycling ensures proper handling and efficient management of empty drums so customer exposure is minimized.

Management of Ash and Steel Drum Recycling...
Once drums are decontaminated, Rineco provides on-site management of the remaining ash and residues through fuel blending. In this step, ash is blended into fuel, then sent to cement kilns for use as an alternative fuel source. After steel drums complete the decontamination process, they are crushed and shipped as scrap metal to steel mills for recycling.
